  1. High price of eating healthfully.  Actually the cost of lean meats, beans, frozen and fresh vegetables aren’t the root cause. According to the USDA's Economic Research Service Analysis, 86% of all vegetables and 78% of all fruits cots less than 50 cents per serving. The convenience foods are what do cost more.

Solution: Plan meals, shop from a list, shop the sales for more expensive items. Keep in mind that most “empty-calorie” foods are often more expensive than healthier choices.

  1. Lack of time.  The truth is it is not easy. Try to examine where you are spending your time and then make adjustments to allow for meal preparation and planning.  Don’t forget time savers like batch cooking, healthy frozen meals, and grab and go items.
