If you’ve ever been to the Big Apple, you’ve likely made your way past at least a handful of street vendors. These hardworking individuals give city dwellers and visitors alike a broad range of appetizing choices. As a leading provider of mobile food trucks based in Brooklyn, NY, Shanghai Mobile Kitchen Solutions understands the dedication, commitment, and skills vending requires. For these reasons, they’re here to spotlight an important upcoming event taking place in the local community: the 13th Annual NYC Vendy Awards.

On Saturday, Sept. 16 at 12:30 p.m., attendees will gather at Governors Island in New York City to sample exceptionally prepared food from five food trucks who have been crowned finalists. Shanghai Mobile Kitchen Solutions is proud to have outfitted some of the vendors with their mobile food trucks. You can visit these and other finalists’ striking units by buying a ticket. This purchase grants event attendees access to sample offerings from each vendor.

Among the finalists are Peter Wang, a Chinese immigrant who mans a barbecue food truck called Big Brother’s Delicious Food; Maria Palacios who operates Yolanda’s Tamales and learned the art of tamale-making from her grandmother; a gentleman named Anton whose friends encouraged him to start Anton’s Russian Dumplings; Godshelter, a chef who prepares Nigerian grub and runs DF Nigerian Food Truck; and Adel El Nagar, whose Halal food is well-known throughout the city.

The organization aims to help the city’s 20,000 street vendors—many of whom are immigrants, people of color, and veterans—grow their businesses by providing educational resources about legal rights and responsibilities pertaining to the industry.

Don’t miss the opportunity to sample some of the city’s best mobile food truck cuisine—purchase your tickets for what Chef Mario Batali calls “the Oscars of street food” online now. If you find yourself inspired by the Vendy Awards, be sure to learn more about the food truck business by visiting Shanghai Mobile Kitchen Solutions online.
