Annual Summer Picnic a Success! 

Last week we hosted our annual summer picnic for all residents and their loved ones. This event is always a fun opportunity for everyone to enjoy some great food and music, all while spending time together and making wonderful memories. Our staff works hard to make this event a success and we want to thank everyone for coming out and spending the evening with us. We hope to see you all again next year!

Two New Sensory Boards Dedicated in Memory of Joyce Headley

 

On August 17^th GrandeVille held a dedication ceremony for its two new sensory boards in memory of Joyce Headley. With the generous donation made by Joyce’s family, two sensory stations were assembled as a means for seniors with dementia to express themselves when they can no longer do so. Sensory stimulation is intended to bring enjoyment to seniors with the disease, reduce their anxiety, give a feeling of safety, relaxation, reduce depression and increase their social interaction. Joyce lived at GrandeVille from 3/15/11 to 9/5/16. Her sweet smile is greatly missed.

Getting to know Karen Gharet…

We sat down with Karen, one of our long-time employees and a July 2017 Employee of the Month, to learn a little bit more about her. 

1) How long have you been working at GV and in which position(s)?

I have worked at GV for 17 years –  in reception for 13 years and 4 years in my current position as Business Manager. 

2) What do you like best about working at GV? 

I love helping the residents. It's my favorite part of the job.

3) Finish this sentence: "I'm happiest...." 

...when I spend time with my granddaughter.

4) People would be surprised to know..…

... I like going to summer music concerts and I enjoy sampling all the local craft beers that have become so popular.

5) Favorite food -  I really like white pizza.

6) Favorite sport/hobby - I enjoy bowling and spending as much time as I can boating during our very short Rochester summers.
