Feeling the wind in your hair and the warm sun on your face are some of the many benefits of owning a motorcycle. With summer in full swing, you’re probably riding your hog along the winding highways regularly to enjoy the beautiful Ohio weather. To continue enjoying the open road, however, you need to ensure all motorcycle parts are working at all times. Some components will need a replacement sooner than others, and it’s important to know which ones so you can continue to ride without issue.

Which Motorcycle Parts Should You Replace Often?

Transmission Tensioner

The transmission is one of the main components of the bike. Without it, you aren’t going to get very far, so have the tensioner adjusted every 10,000 miles. During this routine check, you will also want to have the oil changed and surrounding parts inspected.

Spark Plugs

Drive Chain

The chain will last a little longer than the plugs and transmission tensioner. On average, you should get between 15,000 and 25,000 miles out of the chain before having to replace it. To maximize the life span of your chain, keep it properly lubricated and tightened to prevent slack.

Don’t wait until something breaks down to get it repaired. Invest in preventative maintenance to maximize the life span of your ride.
