• Prevents Summer Learning Loss: Kids who don’t read during the summer are far more likely to forget what was learned in the classroom than those that do. When the term starts, they won’t be prepared for the next level of study. Reading during the summer will keep them on track.
• Cultivates Creativity: Watching TV or playing on the computer all summer long doesn’t give kids the chance to use their imaginations. Reading stretches the mind, giving youngsters the chance to create how the characters look and the setting in their heads. This will make them more creative when it comes to their own writing. 
• Fosters Love of Reading: Unlike in school, where books are assigned, kids can read whatever they want during the summer. This freedom lets them discover a book series or genre they enjoy. Once kids become excited about reading, they will continue that passion into adulthood.
