If you’re an avid car collector or a classic car enthusiast, there is no event more exciting than a classic auto show. For residents and visitors in Mecklenburg County, NC, Charlotte Auto Fair produced by Hornets Nest Region, AACA offers an impressive showcase of restored and uniquely detailed classic cars every spring and fall. According to the event staff, this year you can expect to spot a 1950 Studebaker on display, as well as over a thousand other collector vehicles.

Below, the premier auto show puts the classic car spotlight on the 1950 Studebaker.

auto showThe Studebaker is most remembered for its classic 1950 design due to its introduction of the famous “bullet nose” style. This combined the original Studebaker Starlight style with the new front sheet metal design to create an innovative futuristic aesthetic. Another notable feature was the wrap-around rear windows that produced a unique panoramic effect. At the time, most two-door sedans only featured two side windows separated by the rear window with roof supports.

The bullet nose models came in a few different sizes. The Champion had an 113-inch wheelbase, the Commander had 124 inches, and the Land Cruiser was a four-door sedan. The Land Cruiser didn’t have a wraparound window. Instead, it came complete with rear-hinged suicide doors. The Commander was also known for its impressive mileage, winning its class in the 1951 Mobilgas Economy Run for 28 mpg. As for the interior of these classic rides, the Commanders offered seats upholstered in high-quality material, and the dashboards were trimmed in chrome.
