Local dentist Dr. Ecsile Chang at Helmbrecht Dental, has made a commitment to her community of Fairbanks, AK. She was born and raised in Fairbanks and is working alongside the rest of the dental team to serve their patients and community alike.

Highlighting Dr. Chang’s Commitment to the Community

Part of Dr. Chang’s commitment is in honoring the local Korean War veterans. A remarkable 67 years ago on June 25, 1950, the Korean War began, and many veterans of this war reside in the Fairbanks area to this day. Dr. Chang, along with the Korean community of Fairbanks, hosted an event to show appreciation for those who sacrificed their lives and served, with awards, food, and a sports day. They contacted the VA office and sent out flyers to local veterans to invite them to participate, and the result was incredible. The Korean Air Force sent 104 pilots and crew members who attended as well, marking it as a truly special day.

In addition to honoring the veterans, a celebration was in order for the completion of the training for the Korean Air Force 17-2 Red Flag in Eielson. The training lasted over a month and is extremely taxing on those involved, so they provided multiple meals for them during that training. To show their appreciation to Dr. Chang and the Korean Community of Fairbanks, the airmen invited them out to Eielson to show them the F-16 fighter jets and what the training includes. This training involved about 1,500 people and more than 100 aircrafts from the U.S., Japan, Korea, Thailand, Denmark, and other nations. The purpose of the training was to improve ground, space, and cyberspace combat readiness.
