Just like regular doctor's visits help ensure your health and monitor for problems, pet wellness checks allow your veterinarian to keep an eye on your pet's health. At their visit, your pet will be examined, and you'll be asked questions about their health and behavior to catch the early warning signs of disease. Here at Countryside Veterinary Clinic, we strongly recommend having your pet examined at least once a year.

Under 1 Year Old

Your furry friend may need several pet wellness visits in the first year of life, both because young creatures are so fragile and because your pet will need a full course of vaccinations. We do NOT recommend giving vaccines that have been purchased online or from supply stores. While this may sound like a hassle, these early visits lay the foundation for a healthy adult life—which means fewer vet visits in the long run.

Up to 10 Years Old

This will allow your vet to stay in touch, monitor your pet's growth and, as your pet gets older, watch for the signs of aging which indicate your pet may need more care. You may have to bring your dog or cat in more often if they suffer from chronic health problems or ongoing conditions.  A yearly visit is also a good time to test for heartworms and tick-borne disease, or even check a full blood panel to catch early issues!

Over 10 Years Old

As your furry friend gets older, your vet will recommend increasing the number of visits to two each year. Just like humans, pets are at a higher risk of developing various health conditions as they age, so more frequent visits are necessary to protect their health.
