If your child attends preschool or daycare, chances are they’ve been creating holiday-themed arts and crafts this month. Art is an important part of child development, so you should encourage it at home too. Preschool and daycare teachers have a plethora of ideas to get them through the days. A Brighter Rainbow Learning Center has some holiday craft ideas you can do at home with your children.

Creating snowflakes is not only a winter staple, it's easy for kids. All you really need are kid-friendly scissors and plenty of scrap paper. Try using gift-wrapping paper to make the snowflakes a little more colorful. To create a long-lasting snowflake, you can also paint clothespins white and glue them together to make snowflakes. Your child may need a little more help with that one depending on their age.

Create a new tradition with your kids by making handprint reindeer each year. You can either trace your child’s hand and let them cut it out, or dip their hand in paint and press firmly to a piece of paper. Either way your child can then decorate their reindeer with antlers, paint, baubles, and bells, and you’ll have something to look back on each year to see how much your child’s grown.
