The History of Abriola Parkview Funeral Home

The Beginning

funeral homeIn 1898, brothers Louis and Anthony Abriola traveled to Connecticut with their family to discover and pursue their passions. Though opening a funeral home was not first on their list, it quickly become a priority after the sudden passing of their younger sister. In 1906, they became the first Italian undertakers in Bridgeport.

A Time of Need

With the onset of influenza in 1918, the Abriola brothers were performing as many as 10 funerals in a single day. As such, they were highly relied upon during this tragic time. Through their constant professionalism and care, they earned an exceptional reputation. At the time, any memorial gathering was performed at the deceased’s home. By 1940, nine out of 10 burials were taking place at funeral homes.

Generations Later

Today, over 100 years later, seven licensed funeral directors from the Louis Abriola family have served families in need. In 1999, third generation director, Kenneth Abriola, and his son, James Abriola, renovated and added to the historic Trumbull estate. They officially moved from their original location in Bridgeport to Trumbull.

We, the Abriola's, have found great joy in assisting the grieving. Knowing our work helps your healing process is what keeps our passion burning.
