Good nutrition is an integral part of any fitness plan. Whether you’re training for a race or just trying to improve your health, the right diet will help you reach your goals. This June, Ohio’s Up and Running In Dayton is hosting two free presentations with Dawn Weatherwax RD, CSSD, LD, ATC, CSCS, on nutrition for training, competition, and optimal health.
The first presentation, Nutrition and Supplementation Recommendations for Optimal Health, will take place on June 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at Up and Running In Dayton. Dawn Weatherwax will discuss the importance of fruit, vegetables, protein, and fat in your diet and how much of each you should be getting. She will also discuss vitamin supplements such as Vitamin D, B-12, iron and calcium and how each one impacts your diet and health. As a registered dietitian with a specialty in sports nutrition, Dawn is an expert on athlete nutritional needs and will share how the right diet can optimize your performance.
The second presentation, Nutrition and Supplementation for Training and Competition, will be held on June 24th at 10:00 a.m. This presentation focuses on how hydration and electrolytes impact performance, what you need to eat during training & racing and what supplements aid in performance, endurance, and recovery. Dawn will talk about supplements such as creatine and glutamine to determine what impact they have on performance as well as how beta-alanine and sodium bicarbonate affects lactate levels. This presentation is perfect for competitive athletes or those training for a race or competition.
