A Simple Guide to Hybrid Golf Clubs, Manhattan, New York

As a golfer, you’d probably love to have a golf club that combines the accuracy of an iron with the power of a wood. Luckily, you can! Just ask the pros from New York Golf Center at either of their two Manhattan locations about hybrid clubs. They’ll explain what they are and why they’re useful on the green.

Golf ClubsAs the name implies, hybrid golf clubs are a cross between a fairway wood and an iron. The most obvious visual difference between a hybrid and a typical iron golf club is the size of the clubhead. While not quite as large as the clubhead on a fairway wood, a hybrid clubhead is still noticeably larger than that of an iron. The shaft is also shorter than what you would expect of a normal fairway wood.

These features allow golf club designers to shift the club’s weight closer to the back and bottom portions. This low center of gravity helps to loft the ball further into the air. Some hybrid clubs have adjustable weights, allowing you to exercise additional control over the loft.

To determine whether a hybrid club is right for you, head to your local golf store and ask about the pros and cons of this club style. Hybrid golf clubs are ideal for courses with long fairways. If you’re too close to the green to use a fairway wood but too far away to reach it with any of your irons, a hybrid can help you find that middle ground between accuracy and distance. If you typically play on smaller courses, you might be better off with a traditional set of clubs.

For more info, head to New York Golf Center in Manhattan. Their friendly and knowledgeable staff will be glad to answer your questions. Contact them online to learn more about the clubs and equipment they carry, or call (212) 564-0078 today.
