FAQ About Our Urgent Care Center, Staten Island, New York

At CityMD, we make it our top priority to spread knowledge and help our patients feel better as soon as possible. If you have a question about how our urgent care center works, what we treat, and how you pay, you can find answers to all of these queries below.

1. Where are you located?

We have over 40 locations in the New York City region including Long Island, Westchester, Rockland County and all 5 boroughs of New York City.

2.Do I need to make an appointment?

No appointment is necessary. You can just come right in whenever you are free! We pride ourselves on low wait times. You’re usually out of the waiting room in under 15 minutes.

3.How do I register?

You have two options: You can come in and fill out a simple one page form. Or you can register online by searching our website www.citymd.com. Please make sure to bring in a photo ID. If you have insurance, make sure you bring that card along, too. Don’t have insurance? No problem. We have low self-pay rates.

4.Does your center treat children / the elderly?

Yes, we see patients of all ages.

5.Can I visit an urgent care center without insurance?

Yes, you can. It is our aim to provide expert care to anyone who may be in need.

6.How much will it cost to visit an urgent care center without insurance?

A visit will cost $125. Any additional tests or procedures performed will be an additional cost. The prices for additional procedures vary depending on what is being performed by the doctor. The doctor will inform you of the prices prior to performing them.

7.Do you take credit cards?

Yes, we do.

8.Do you do x-rays?

Yes, we do have an X-ray machine and X-ray tech on site.

9.How soon can I get my lab results back?

We have several rapid tests that only take minutes to get results but sometimes we require an outside lab. Outside lab results typically take three to five business days. A scribe or doctor from the Aftercare team will call you with your lab results when they are in from the lab and ready to be discussed.

10.What is an urgent care center?

Urgent care is between a doctor’s office and an emergency room. If your primary care doctor is booked with appointments or out of town, CityMD is the best alternative for minor injuries and illnesses. Instead of waiting in an emergency room for hours, CityMD see’s patients within 15 minutes, making your visit fast and simple.

11.How many doctors are at each center?

It depends on the locations but you will be seen by a board-certified emergency room physician at every site.

12.Are your emergency room physicians Board Certified?

Yes. All doctors are ER board certified here at CityMD.

13.What is the difference between an urgent care center and an emergency room?

At an emergency room you find yourself waiting for hours to be seen by a doctor. At CityMD, you are able to see a doctor within 15 minutes saving you a lot of time. The visit is fast and simple and you still experience personal care by our aftercare team who will reach out shortly after your visit.

14.What is the difference between an urgent care center and a regular doctor’s office?

Primary Care Physicians usually require an appointment in advance. This can often be days or even weeks in the future leaving your illness or injury to wait. At CityMD, no appointment is needed. Just walk in and we’ll have you feeling better in no time. We do encourage visiting a Primary Care Physician who will assist you in long term care. Our aim is to address immediate care requirements.

15.What type of qualifications do your physicians and nurses have?

All physicians here are ER board certified. Scribes, medical assistants, and x-ray techs are taken through extensive training for their position.

16.How much does a visit cost?

Do you have insurance? If so, your costs may vary based on co-pay fees and deductibles required by your insurance provider. We will be able to assist you over the phone or at each location in determining the amount of your copay. For information regarding deductibles you will need to contact your insurance provider or refer to your insurance contract.

17.What types of insurance do you accept?

We accept most major medical insurances but we also see patients with insurances that are out - of - network and self-pay.

18.Which illnesses do you treat?

Life’s little emergencies are what our walk in clinics are for. You cut your hand slicing vegetables. We’ll stitch it up and get you back in the kitchen to finish that special birthday meal. You twisted your ankle while training for a half-marathon. We’ll wrap it so it heals and you can still go for a personal best. You’ve got a cough and you’re worried you’ll lose your voice before that big presentation. We’ll choose the most effective medicine so that you can focus on getting your speech just the way you want it. Your daughter eats a brownie and breaks out in hives. We’ll stop the reaction, and order tests to find out what she might be allergic to, so that you have what you need to keep your child safe.

19.Does your staff speak more than one language?

We try to have someone on staff that speaks various languages depending on the neighborhood. For instance, in Jackson Heights not only do we have several Spanish speakers on staff but several who speak Urdu, Bengali and Hindi.

20.Will you contact me with lab results or do I need to follow up?

Our After Care team will contact you within three to five business days with your lab results. If a STD panel was tested the patient must come in to discuss lab results with a doctor.

If you have any additional comments or concerns please visit this contact form so you can get in touch with our friendly and knowledgeable staff. We look forward to providing you with all the information you need and helping you feel like yourself in no time at all!
