Meet Coach Daryl Mayer

image

After 20 years, I retired from the Air Force and focused on getting seriously fat.  After developing diabetes, high blood pressure and getting a serious wake-up call from my doctor about other ailments, I decided to take responsibility for my fitness.

I’ll never forget my first workout.  My wife and I walked around the block twice — that was about my limit.  About a year and 125 pounds later, I was off my daily bag of pills and spending at least an hour every day in the gym.  I thought I was pretty fit.  Then a guy invited me to try CrossFit.  I soon learned that while I had moved from being unhealthy to healthy, I still had a ways to go before becoming truly fit.  I’m still working toward that goal and I don’t intend on stopping.  I may be getting older, but I am not regressing – I am progressing.

I invite you to try the sport that cheers the loudest for the athlete that finishes last.
