Whether you're dying to redecorate or looking for your next home improvement project, you can use texturing add some life to the inside of your home. Texturing your walls can add a personalized touch to your home or apartment.

There are several ways to incorporate texturing with your paint. Here are three texturing techniques you can use to add some flair to your home.

3. Simple Texturing Techniques

1. Use Stencils

You can buy stencils at a hardware or craft store, or you can make your own. By painting around or in between the stencil, you can add some fun shapes and designs to your walls.

Quick Tip: Use a thin brush and use a small amount of paint to fill the stencil.

texturing 2. Distress the Paint

If you want to add an aged or vintage look to your home, use the painting technique of applying some glue or petroleum jelly to any areas you want to look distressed. These will prevent the paint from adhering to the surface. For a more natural look, choose areas that would usually look worn from time, like edges near a cabinet or door. When the paint has dried, you need to sand the area to complete the distressed look.

3. Sponge Paint

This is one of the easiest ways to add some texturing to your paint. Choose a solid-color wall to become your canvas. You can paint the wall any color using a broad brush or paint roller. Then, choose your contrast color of choice. Add the paint to a tray or bowl and apply it by dabbing the wall with a paint sponge, which you can buy at a hardware or craft store. You can sponge paint multiple colors, but use separate sponges for a cleaner look.

Texturing is a dynamic and low-cost way to bring new life into your home. You will love the look and feel, and your friends will want to know what you've done with the place!
