Today, at A Rising Star Children’s Center, we studied the topic of bravery.  Each child was asked:  How have you been brave? Here are some of the answers from 2-4 year old children:

How have you been brave?

Landen –  (age 4) “When I was sleeping my sister made a big noise and I didn’t cry, I just went back to sleep.”

Judah – (age 3) “When my Mom was being angry I just laughed and went to my bed.”

Donald – (age 3)  “When there was thunder outside I was brave and still came to school.”

Dylan – (age 2.5) “When a bad guy broke my airplane, I punched him the eyes’”

Wow – these kids know how to be brave!

At A Rising Star Children’s Center, we teach children social-emotional development, which refers to a child’s ability to identify feelings, self-regulate and build relationships.

High-quality relationships correlate to positive outcomes for young children (Shonkoff, 2004). Brain research verifies that emotional and cognitive development are interrelated (Bell &Wolf, 2004). Therefore, we integrate a social-emotional component into all our lesson plans because young children who have strong social and emotional development are more likely to have good academic performance in future schooling (Cohen, 2005).

At A Rising Star Children’s Center we teach the children how to be kind, brave, honest, loving, caring, patient to name a few, in our every day program.  This helps them to be good friends and citizens in the world and do better in the school ahead.

We offer various programs including preschool programs, before & after school programs, and even infant & toddler care.
