If you recently had an eye exam or need new eyeglasses due to a change in vision, your optometrist will conduct a fitting in their office to help you find the best pair to fit your needs. But before you go, you should understand what you can expect at your upcoming visit. Serving residents throughout Whitefish, MT, the skilled specialists at Whitefish Eye Center provide a wide range of top-notch services, including eye examinations, laser eye surgery, and contact lens and eyeglass fittings.

Here, the vision care professionals explain what you can expect at an eyeglasses fitting. If you’ve already been to the optometrist for your eye exam and your doctor has determined you need new eyeglasses, they will schedule an appointment for you to come in for a fitting. At the fitting, an optician will help you try on and choose a pair of frames that match your face shape and personal style.

eyeglassesTo ensure the prescription lenses will fit the glasses you choose, the optician may take measurements of both your eyes and the frame.

Before you place the final order, be prepared to discuss warranty coverage with the optician. Most eyeglasses should be covered under some type of warranty in case they get scratched or break within the first few year of wearing them.

The optician will then send the frames to a lab where your prescription lenses will be forged and then inserted into the frame. Depending on your prescription number, it can take a few hours to a couple of weeks for your new eyeglasses to be delivered. When you go back in to pick them up, you will have to sit down for an additional fitting, as there may be a need for additional adjustments.
