While every student has a different pace and speed for learning gymnastics, there are a few good habits that every gymnast needs to thrive in their class. Whether pre-school or team, these habits ensure that every child will get the most out of the sport.

  1.  Recount the lesson with your child- Parents who get involved with what their student is learning are more likely to help the child succeed. After every class the coaches offer to meet with the parents and discuss how their son or daughter did. They can provide exercises for the student to work on at home.
     
  2. Work on Gymnastics at home- While many of us do not have any proper gym equipment at home, there are still some strength building exercises the student can do to prepare for class. It can be working on a hand stand off the wall, doing push ups or doing stretches. The Victors Gym has a list of home exercises each child can do.
     
  3. Take Advantage of Camps- Each Summer and Winter the Victors Gym offers Back Handspring Camps. These camps are designed to help any student (over the age of 5) to work on their back handspring. While tumbling is only a quarter of the sport of gymnastics, learning the back handspring can help build up core strength. Our back handspring camp is coming in July. You can sign up now.
