Whether you need a septic tank for a brand new home or you're replacing an older wastewater system, it's important that the installation process is handled with care by a reliable expert. A licensed professional will have an extensive understanding of what is needed to properly execute a septic installation in the most efficient manner possible. If you’re wondering what is involved in equipping your property with a new system, continue reading for an overview of the three main steps.

Steps of the Septic Installation Process

1. Preparing & Designing Your Septic System

septic-installationTo begin the septic installation process, your contractors will perform a site survey and will have a soil test done on the system’s installation site. Once these preliminary steps are complete, the septic installation team will request the necessary permits and approvals before they begin their work. It’s important that they comply with all the local and state laws as well as the applicable plumbing and building codes.

2. Excavating the Land

Next, your wastewater system installation team will use heavy equipment to excavate the land to the appropriate depth and lower the septic tank into the ground. Depending on your septic design, you may have a leach bed or seepage pits – we are one of the only ones who do seepage pits – so we push them more. Another possible article could be the benefits of a seepage pit (they are usually cheaper and are less disruptive because they take up less land area. The contractors will then use a large excavator to quickly dig leach beds, which are gravel-filled trenches that dispose of liquid waste. They will also use an industrial drill to construct seepage pits for the septic system.

3. Covering the Septic System

After installing the wastewater system, the team will cover up the excavation site and fill the septic tank with water from a hose. Filling the septic tank with water prevents it from resurfacing over time.
