As the school season ends, it’s time for many families to head out to the parks or their backyards to celebrate with graduation parties. Unfortunately, unwanted animal visitors may invite themselves to the festivities. But by taking a few simple steps, western Connecticut’s American Bio-Tech says party hosts can avoid the need for wildlife control services.

Throughout their years of serving Fairfield, New Haven, and Litchfield counties, American Bio-Tech has found the following to be good strategies for keeping backyard wildlife nuisances to a minimum:

  • wildlife controlGive Branches the Boot: To stave off the need for squirrel removal, wildlife control experts recommend removing all potential entry points for these nimble creatures. For example, since squirrels can swiftly invade by traveling over extended branches, it’s a good idea to think ahead and remove all these connections to your yard before the party starts.
  • Seal Off All Food: If you leave your trash unsecured, it’ll attract raccoons. As diggers with an appetite, raccoons are relentless when food is easy to get to. That’s why it’s essential to not only tie up trash bags, but also to make sure they are completely sealed within a covered garbage can. Additionally, you should make a habit of covering up any food during the graduation party to prevent prying pests.
  • Install Barriers Before There’s a Problem: Apart from trees, the ground is a really good way for animal intruders to sneak into your graduation celebration. If you want to preemptively prevent this problem, consider installing a sturdy mesh wire or metal barrier between your yard and the great outdoors. Bury it a few feet in the ground, and make sure it extends above it by at least a foot to keep diggers and climbers from passing through.

In the event you notice pests have already set themselves up in your outdoor entertaining space, qualified wildlife control specialists can safely and humanely help you resolve the issue.
