There are a multitude of different energy efficiency ratings for replacement windows that one must consider when purchasing.  But just as importantly (maybe more so), there are also structural ratings for windows as well.  The most widely used structural rating for windows is the design pressure, or DP.

According to AAMA, the American Architectural Manufacturer’s Association, Design Pressure (DP) is a rating that identifies the load (usually wind) that a product is rated to withstand in its end-use application, measured in pounds per square foot (psf).  Therefore, the design pressure is a performance measurement of how strong a window is.  This is a very important measurement, because the window’s DP rating directly correlates to how long the window will perform to specifications.  Meaning the higher the DP rating, the longer the window will live up to it’s original energy efficiency ratings.

Windows Plus offers the highest quality vinyl windows, and we make sure to offer superior design pressure ratings in the windows we install.  Our Elements® windows have a DP rating of 70, which is 2 times stronger than the industry minimum.  A DP70 rating correlates to a 203 mph wind load!

It’s important to us at Windows Plus that our replacement windows are built to last.  For more information, check out Windows Plus of Cincinnati or Windows Plus of Dayton, or give us a call to schedule a free estimate.
