Regular chiropractic adjustments are a great way of relieving back pain; however, the treatment doesn’t end in the office. To make the most of your adjustment, practice back stretches in the morning and night in between your visits to the chiropractor.

Here are some back stretches recommended by chiropractors:

  • chiropractorKnee to Chest: Lie flat on your back and point your toes to the sky. Bend your right knee and pull your leg gently up to your chest. Wrap your arms around your thigh and pull the knee towards your chest. Keep the position held for 20 seconds and slowly extend your leg back to the starting position. Repeat this stretch three times for each leg.
  • Hamstring Stretch: While sitting on the edge of a chair, straighten one leg in front of your body with the heel on the floor. Then, sit up and try to push your navel towards your thigh without moving your body forward. Hold for 30 seconds, and repeat the stretch three times for each leg.
  • Cobra Stretch: Lay flat on your stomach on a yoga mat, and place your palms on the mat beneath your shoulders. Lift your chest off the ground by straightening your arms. Gaze upwards towards the ceiling, and keep your abdominals engaged to hold the pose for 30 seconds. Repeat three times.
