In 1941, Victor Hasselblad created a camera that would reformat how people viewed the world. The Hasselblad camera made a splash on the photography scene, and the brand has continued to wow the public ever since. If the name doesn’t initially ring a bell in your head, you would still recognize the device’s most famous photographs. The 1969 moon landing was recorded by a Hasselblad camera, which is a true testament to the brand’s liability. Now it’s time to find out what else sets them apart from other camera manufacturers.

Medium Format Sensors

If you’re unfamiliar with this term, “medium format” in regards to photography refers to cameras that use medium format film files or have sensors bigger than a 35mm frame. This means that the image size, once captured, can be much larger than that of a standard camera. Because a Hasselblad camera has a large sensor and can capture a bigger picture through its lens, the clarity in the finished product is ultimately clearer than if you use a smaller lens.

Natural Color Selection

camerasThe creators of Hasselblad created the Hasselblad Natural Color Selection (HNCS) so that their images would look more vibrant than other cameras. The camera’s large sensor is better able to pick up a wider range of colors, and the camera then converts these colors to vibrant pixels. The camera has built-in programming that enables it to make natural colors, like skin tone, look smoother and more lifelike.

True Focus

Another feature that sets Hasselblad cameras apart from competitors is the True Focus application. Most cameras only allow the photographer to focus on the center of the image, whereas a Hasselblad camera has True Focus to alleviate this situation. True Focus, when enabled on the camera, allows you to focus on off-center subjects without having to continually make manual changes as you shoot. This feature allows for clearer pictures with interesting subjects and less time spent tweaking your camera’s settings.
