Did you know the average American consumed over 300 more calories a day in the late 1990s than in the mid 1980s? And since the 1950s about 500 more calories per day.  With these calories creeping up and activity levels falling, it’s not a surprise gaining weight can come quickly.

How do we stop this trend? The first step is to get our calories in check.  It is easy to use a diary to track calories like myfitnesspal on your smart phone or tablet. The next step is to read food labels. Focus on the serving size and calories, you might be astonished what you find out.  Always plan ahead for meals away from home. Without planning ahead you could quickly take in an extra 500-1000 calories and not even be aware of it.

Take an honest look at your calorie intake and customize a plan that works for you!
