Overnight summer camp is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, immersing kids in nature and encouraging exploration. With the chance to participate in invigorating outdoor sports, kids gain valuable skills and health benefits along the way. Making summers memorable for over 90 years, Camp Killoleet of Hancock, VT, offers a wide range of sports and activities that help your child make memories and improve their physical health. Sports and outdoor exploration are integrated with performing and visual arts activities for well balanced schedule.

Here’s how your child can benefit from some of the camp’s most popular activities:

  • Archery: Did your child read The Hunger Games or watch the movies?  This classic camp activity builds balance, upper body strength, and coordination. The walking involved in retrieving arrows creates a workout within a workout. The sport also improves key mental health skills like focus and determination.
  • Basketball, Soccer, & Tennis: These sports all involve teamwork and constant motion, giving your child a chance to improve their social skills as well as their heart and muscle health.
  • sports Hancock VTHorseback Riding: Every child at Killooleet has the chance to ride horses. Whether they have never been  on a horse before or take lessons at home, we have a horse they will love. Riding puts your child’s core strength to the test and improves their posture.  Mastering the seated positions requires balance, coordination, and strength that exercise the abdominal muscles on every ride.
  • Bicycling: Children at Killooleet bring a bike from home or rent one for the summer to ride around our beautiful, flat grassy campus. Riding a  bicycle requires significant strength in the thighs, legs, and entire lower body. Even if your child starts out slow, these muscle groups will build, creating greater strength and balance. Children have the options of going on bicycle hikes to work on distance or learn mountain biking skills from out counselors for off-road adventures.
  • Canoeing:   It is exciting to glide through the water and hear only the small splash of your paddle and the ripple of the water as it flows under the boat.   Your child will rely on the muscles in their arms and upper body during their canoe outings. Along with the opportunity to explore nature, your child will build their upper body strength.  Canoe hikes to local reservoirs are some of our favorite day and overnight trips.

Give your kids the overnight summer camp experience that they’ve always craved. At Camp Killooleet, exciting outdoor sports build skills and provide endless health benefits, so your kids will return home stronger and more confident than before. Visit the website to learn more about this exciting summertime opportunity, or call (617)666-1484 today..
