3 Tips for Choosing a Golf Bag, Manhattan, New York

A quality golf bag not only carry’s your clubs, golf balls, tees, and anything else you want to take with you on the course but can also make your golfing experience much more pleasant. If you are in the market for a new golf bag, you may be overwhelmed by your options and not know where to begin.

Below, the experts from New York Golf Center in New York, New York, share their top three tips for selecting a golf bag.

1. Consider How You’ll Travel the Course

Bags have different features and some are heavier than others, so it is important to know how you’ll be getting around the course. If you will be walking with a caddy or carrying your own bag, you should invest in a stand bag because it is lightweight. The stand keeps your bag off the ground and makes it easier to pick up and put down.  If you are using a golf cart around the course, you may want to purchase a cart bag which features a number of easily-accessible pockets and a non-slip rubber base to keep the bag from sliding off your cart. Cart bags are generally larger, can hold more of your stuff and keep your clubs more oraganized while it’s on the cart. Finally, if you are using a caddy and you want to torture him/her, feel free to purchase a staff bag. Staff bags are really large and are generally used by touring pro’s to advertise their sponsors. They do make excellent presents for someone using it to hold their extra clubs in an office or a den.

While shopping for a new golf bag, choose which additional features are most important to you. Consider if you like to have a specific pocket for certain items like sunglasses, range finders, water bottles and cell phones.  If you prefer to stay organized, you could benefit from a bag that includes a slot for each individual club to help keep your clubs organized. For regions with more precipitation, you may want to invest in a waterproof bag.

3. Consider How Often You’ll Use It

Purchasing a huge bag with all the bells and whistles may look great and feel convenient, but if you aren’t spending every weekend on the course, it could be a waste of money. Consider how often you’ll actually go golfing, and select a bag that will be worth your investment.
