The last time you went to a wedding, what did the ceiling look like? If you can’t remember, that’s probably because it wasn’t something super memorable. However, it can be, with what this generation is calling ceiling swag. Seriously, it can change the look of your reception from plain, to something spectacular and romantic. It’ll have people walking in oohhing and ahhing at how beautiful it is. You can have someone like Party Pleasers Services do it professionally, or you can do it yourself, but be forewarned, it’s not that easy, but it will be worth it. Depending on the venue, the ceiling might also be something that you really want to cover up.

Kit vs. Freehand

They actually have kits that you can use to make the ceiling drapes. This makes it easier because they are pretty much already together; all you need to do is hang them up. You will want more than one person however and you’ll want to have all your tools that you will need ready for you before you begin.  Be sure to allow several hours for the installation and always check with the venue first to be sure they are ok with you hanging it on their ceiling.  Many times venues will only allow a professional company to attach to the ceiling structure for safety and damage control.

Lit vs. Fabric Only

You can either do just fabric on the ceiling or you can do it with a backdrop of small led lights as well. The benefit of doing it with the lights is that the lights draw attention to the beauty of the fabric.  Often, your reception is dimly lit and the swag can disappear in a dark room.

Different Arrangements of Fabric

This is another choice that you can make. You can either do them starting in the center and working it’s way to the outside in one big draped fashion. Or you can do them gathering up over each table. And over each table can hang a chandelier of sorts, which could be lighting or flowers, something that really speaks to you and what you are looking for. If you are having a theme wedding like on Halloween for example, it could be ghost brides and grooms flying through the rafters.  You don’t even have to do it this way, you can have them draped horizontally over the beams as well. There are so many options with how to hang them, really study the room and what will make it look best.

It is harder than it looks!

Be forewarned!  Hanging ceiling swag is much harder than it looks.  You need to have the right tools and know the little trick to get each swag to look just right!  Many brides say they are so glad they hired a pro to do the decor rather than trying to do it themselves.  The team at Party Pleasers will help you with the design of your choice and handle all the installation.
