Most people don’t pay much thought to the state of their sewer line. In many cases, it’s not until trouble occurs that they consider they might need a sewer cleaning. What are the indicators that you have an issue in your sewer line? American Rooter of Watertown, CT, knows the signs and suggests a few things that you’ll want to watch for.

Signs You Need a Sewer Cleaning

1. Clogs in the Drain

sewer cleaningOne of the first signs that people notice is a slowly draining sink. When a sewer clog occurs, you can typically hear a low gurgling coming from the drain. You’ll also find the water in your sink starting to back up.

2. Water Backs Up in Unusual Locations

A clog in the main sewer line will cause water to back up at times you wouldn’t expect. Typically, use of one appliance or fixture will create a backup in another. If you use your washing machine, you may notice water overflowing in your toilet. In other cases, you may find your toilet water rising when you use your sink. Watch carefully to see if water backs up at odd times.

3. The Sewer Clean Out is Drained

In most homes built after the 1970s, there’s a sewer clean out placed alongside the home. It’s a white or black pipe topped by a threaded cap that is used to access the sewer line. When there’s a clog, you’ll find water flowing up and out of this pipe.

If you’ve noticed any of these issues in your home, contact American Rooter immediately. They’ll identify what’s happening in your home and get your pipes working properly once again. To find out more about all the services they offer, dial (860) 274-7338, or visit them online.
