In this month’s physician spotlight, Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates is proud to focus on Dr. Smruti Patel, M.D. Dr. Patel has been with OBGYN Associates for over a year providing comprehensive women’s health care to residents in Fairfield and Liberty Township, Ohio.

Dr. Patel received her Bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University and then attended medical school at Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine. She finished her residency at Beaumont Health Oakwood Campus in Dearborn, Michigan, before joining the team at OBGYN Associates.

While Dr. Patel is interested in general gynecology, preconception, infertility, and the da Vinci® robotic-assisted surgeries, obstetrics has always been of special importance to her. On the topic, she says, “I have always had an interest in preventative women’s health and the surgical aspects of gynecology, but it was obstetrics that set the field apart for me. I believe it’s a privilege and honor to be a part of a family’s journey to grow their families.” The fact she can attend “birthday parties” is an aspect of her job she enjoys immensely.

Dr. Patel is happy to offer advice on everything from conception and fertility through maintaining a healthy pregnancy and going into labor. Through the entire journey, she provides guidance, information and personalized care. As a mother herself, she uses the “humbling and eye-opening” perspective of being a patient to cultivate a better understanding of how to care for and understand the women in her charge.  

In her free time, Dr. Patel enjoys being with family and friends, photographing her two sons, traveling the world without an itinerary, and cultivating her culinary skills. She has also been known to enjoy a Marvel® movie or two!
