Singing Karaoke, to some, is simple and their best advice would be “JUST DO IT!”  However, to most, fears of judgement, singing poorly, or stage fright will paralyze you.  Here are a few tips on how to command the stage and sing like a Karaoke pro!

LIQUID COURAGE-

One of the advantages of singing karaoke, is that its usually in an alcohol serving establishment or bar.  Walk up to the bartender and order your drink of choice to help calm the nerves. As your body starts to relax, the idea of singing will become less nerve racking.

SONG CHOICE-

It’s always a good idea to pick a song that you know intimately.  Knowing the words to a song, eases your mind so you aren't worried about what verse is coming up next. For example, pick a song you would sing in the shower or rock out to in your car.

GRAB A FRIEND-

Safety in numbers.  It’s very common for a group of friends to pile onto the stage and sing together.  By sharing the spotlight, no longer are all eyes on you.  There are many duets and hundreds of tunes that are perfect for this form of karaoke.  Try one of these crowd pleasers;

The greatest thing about Karaoke is that after you conquer your fear of singing, and JUST DO IT, you’ll be anxious to get back up there and perform another one.  Remind yourself that this is NOT American Idol, you are out to have fun, and most of the other singers are just a fearful as you.
