Wash Your Windows in 3 Steps

Prepare the Solutionwindow specialists

To efficiently clean windows, your impulse may be to run out and purchase the most expensive bottle of blue liquid glass cleaner. Those cleaners aren't the best option, however; they are better suited to mirrors and glass tabletops. For windows, the solution—in both senses of the word—is simple. Fill a bucket with warm water, and as it’s filling, squeeze in a gentle squirt of plain old dish soap. You don't want the water to be too sudsy, so be careful not to overdo it.

Choose Your Equipment

Smaller or larger windows can be easily cleaned with a soft, natural sponge. You can save some elbow grease on larger windows by using the long cloth head of a strip applicator. A squeegee can work well, too; just wipe off the blade with a lint-free rag after each swipe. Remember, not only can paper towels leave streaks, but even a small window-cleaning job can waste a lot of paper towels.

Wash the Windows

Remove any bits of dirt or debris from your windows before you start. Get your sponge, cloth head, or squeegee good and wet, and move in a reverse, repeating S shape across the window, covering every corner. Begin at the highest windows or the highest points of the window, and work your way down. If possible, wash your windows on a day without sun; this will lengthen the natural drying time and help avoid streaking.

You can ensure your windows are their glittering best by following the above cleaning tips from the area's leading team of window specialists.
