Cincinnati’s Skirball Museum offers citizens and visitors the opportunity to learn a great deal about the history of Jewish people in America. Unfortunately, portions of the museum on the fourth floor suffered water damage recently. That’s why they brought in Old World Plastering to handle the necessary plaster repair work. Starting early February, they’ll address the moisture intrusion damage thoroughly, restoring this valuable cultural center to its original state.

The roots of Skirball Museum date back to 1875, when Hebrew Union College opened its doors in Cincinnati. During its first few years in operation, the school accepted donations of Jewish cultural artifacts, and in 1913, it was able to bring them together in its own campus museum. As the museum’s collection expanded, the school partnered with other organizations like the Jewish Institute of Religion. In 1990, Skirball Museum officially opened in Mayerson Hall. Since then, it’s been a place where guests can dive right into Jewish-American history, learning the story of this religion in the United States through real cultural artifacts.

Luckily, the recent moisture intrusion on the fourth floor did not damage any of the artwork. It did, however, require the need for significant plaster repair work in order to fully restore the building to its original state. Old World Plastering will also be performing extensive plaster restoration in the gym.
