Braces certainly aren’t what they used to be. Thanks to advancements in technology, many adults are now seeking out Dentists to help them correct misaligned teeth. Today, patients of all age will have their teeth straightened with ease thanks to faster, more comfortable treatment options.

Thomas J. Munger III, DDS, and staff use the latest in orthodontic technology for every patient in need of orthodontic correction. Dr. Munger has treated patients in his Anchorage, AK, location for the last 43 years. Both he and his talented staff provide their patients with the best of care, using cutting-edge products such as Fastbraces®, Invisalign®, and other functional appliances.

 What’s the difference?

The Fastbraces® line of metal and ceramic brackets boasts a more accurate bracket placement for dentists, which in turn allows for more optimal movement of teeth for patients. Unlike the bulky, sometimes sharp and irritating brackets of the past, Fastbraces® brackets have a streamlined design, are lightweight, smooth as silk, and non-irritating to the delicate tissue of the cheeks, lips, and gums. Because of the unique design of the brackets, a lot can happen in 20 weeks. at the completion of treatment sent, a retainer is made and only needs to be worn 10-15 min. a day.

In contrast, the Invisalign® product line enables patients to utilize this technology to their advantage. The clear, removable aligners are a non-traditional form of braces that are changed every two weeks for a new and different set based on a personalized treatment plan created by a computer that analyzes the patient’s needs.

The aligners are made from a smooth, BPA-free plastic that won’t irritate cheeks and gums. The aligners are to be worn 20 to 22 hours a day for optimal results. As with most lines of braces, Invisalign® also provides patients with a maintenance retainer once treatment is over to ensure teeth stay in their newly corrected position.

Whatever the product, this new technology in orthodontics gives patients more options while allowing (depending on the method that is selected) greater control and more flexibility during the treatment process.
