New York’s Premier Men’s Facial Provider Explains Why Skin Looks Dull After a Night Out, Manhattan, New York

You probably anticipate headaches and quizziness after a night out drinking, but the professionals at New Paradise Men’s Spa know you should also add a bad complexion to the list of next-day regrets. Their knowledge comes from experience providing New York City residents with men’s facials and other services to keep them looking and feeling their best.

Below, the staff at New York City’s premier men’s spa shares three reasons why your skin looks so bad after a night out drinking:

  • Transient Flushing: If you look in the mirror, and your face looks red, irritated, or swollen, you have transient flushing to blame. Alcohol has a chemical called acetaldehyde, which kick starts this chain reaction. Acetaldehyde helps release histamine into your body. The histamine then causes blood vessels to swell, which is why your face looks “rosier” than normal.
  • New-York-New-York-mens-facialDehydration: Alcohol is a diuretic, which means you need to use the bathroom a lot when you drink. Each time you urinate, your body loses water. When your body’s drained of water, it leaves an uneven balance of sodium and other electrolytes. To help remedy the dehydration, you’ll start to retain water. Water retention causes blood vessels to enlarge and leaves you looking bloated. You’ll notice puffiness in your face and especially under the eyes.
  • Vitamin A Loss: Alcohol also decreases the levels of Vitamin A in your body. This chemical compound is needed for cell renewal and to help keep away free radicals. Free radicals damage the lipid layer of your skin, which is basically its moisture center. The loss of Vitamin A is why your skin looks dry after a night of drinking.

If you need to show your skin some tender love and care after a night out, the team at New Paradise Men’s Spa is standing by to help. They will give you a rejuvenating men’s facial to help restore your complexion. The day spa also provides men’s waxing, manicure and pedicure services, and tips to keep your skin looking its best.
