John Bawduniak, MD, is a general and vascular surgeon who joined Coryell Memorial full time in January 2017.  He is board certified in general surgery with significant training in vascular and endovascular surgery.  He has a special interest in complex minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery, as well as oncologic surgery and vascular surgery.

Dr. Bawduniak was born and raised in Spring, Texas.  He was an All-American swimmer and attended Rice University on swimming scholarship, where he graduated with honors (cum laude).  He went on to University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, and then to general surgery residency at UTMB Galveston. He has been in practice in Waco since 2007 and treating patients at Coryell Memorial since 2014.

When asked why he wanted to join CMHS full time, Dr. Bawduniak said, “I am excited to be part of an organization that has made such a big commitment to delivering state-of-the-art care in a rural setting. I have always wanted to be a small town surgeon, and Coryell Memorial Hospital has provided top of the line surgical equipment, so I know we can give our patients the highest quality of care.”

Dr. Bawduniak and his wife Lindsay have three girls and one boy and spend their spare time on their farm. He is an avid hunter and enjoys aviation, although his first and true love is surgery.
