This week’s physician spotlight from Fairfield, OH’s Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates focuses on Dr. Julia H. Lee, MD, FACOG. Dr. Lee has been with OBGYN Associates since 1996 and proudly maintains a comprehensive approach to medicine, focusing not only on surgical but also non-surgical OBGYN services to address women’s reproductive health requirements. 

Dr. Lee is an area leader in robotic gynecological surgery and actually performed the first robotic surgery at Mercy Fairfield. She is also an expert in minimally invasive procedures. Additionally, she is the co-director of the OBGYN Associates accreditation with the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, a Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, and a member of the Cincinnati OBGYN Society. 

Dr. Lee decided to become an OBGYN during her third year as a medical student at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, when she discovered the rewarding feeling that came with delivering babies. In 1996, Dr. Lee finished her residency, married her now-husband, and moved to Cincinnati, where they have lived for more than 20 years. 

Now a mother of two, Dr. Lee has a strong focus on health in her family life and says instilling healthy habits in her 18-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter is one of her biggest achievements. In her spare time, Dr. Lee enjoys taking mission trips with her family. Thus far, they have traveled to Rwanda, Spain, and Morocco, and are intending to take a trip to Guatemala this year with Caring Partners. She also calls herself a “barn mom” and cares for the family’s horse, Romeo, who her daughter rides competitively. After work, Dr. Lee can often be found grooming the horse or mucking the stall.
