I'm running a tournament next week for all of the kids I teach , next week on Dec 11th (Sunday next week) . Everybody is welcome, regardless of the skill level, there will be a right category for everyone to feel comfortable in- from beginner first-timers to various rated sections, so please do come- I especially want to encourage the parents of the kids who haven't played at a tournament before- just give it a try, the first step is the hardest, but once they sit at the board and get to play, they'll forget about all the stress and just enjoy the game! Everybody will get trophies (kids love that:) ) or other prizes, so it will be a memorable experience.

The location is the JEI Learning Center  at 7721 18th Avenue in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, NY 11214. There will be 4 rounds of play. The first round starts at 10, please arrive between 9:30 and 10 so we can start on time. In the beginner (unrated) section, the games are likely to finish earlier than in the others, probably before 1 PM, and not later than at 2. The rated sections usually wrap up between 1:30 and 3 the latest..

The space is limited, so please make sure to register early. You can just reply to this email and let me know to put your kid on the list. Or you can go to the registration website  and fill it up. Also, all of my students get a discount on the entry fee- just $20 to play (don't hit the PayPal button on the website, I'll just charge you in person later:) ).

Also, last but not the least- this is not the only tournament at JEI- we have a whole list of events lined up in the calendar, with a tournament every month! Please go here to check the (tentative) dates and save them into your schedule For a long time I have wanted my students to play regularly to get better but it's not always easy to get to the tournaments outside of Brooklyn, so having a regular event closer to home should help with that.

Looking forward to seeing you at the tournament!

Best Regards,

Simon Rudowski
