Here is a free lesson on the basics of hitting a forehand. Sometimes it is difficult to explain to beginners that they don't need to move their racquet up and down or open up the face of their racquet. They simply need to move their racquet forward and across their body. One of my instructors came up with an excellent analogy. He said, "picture that their is a penny on the side of the frame and you don't want the penny to fall off,". This tip encourage the kids to keep the racquet straight.
