Losing your ability to hear, without the use of treatment or hearing aids, is debilitating. When hearing tests confirm the beginning stages of hearing loss, it can be both confusing and scary for those who do not know what to expect. Now, you can take your life back with a partnership from Audiology Unlimited through a new study funded by the National Institute of Health.

This latest study will be used to explore a new system to educate novice hearing aid users from the comfort of their own homes. Using familiar technology such as a television and DVD player, and only needing use of a remote control, the system is designed to educate users on hearing aid use, maintenance, and satisfaction from trusted experts in the field of audiology. Over the course of the six-week study you will improve your knowledge and understanding of hearing aids through this new easy system of education system.

To qualify for this study, participants must:

  • Be at least 60 years old
  • Be fluent in English, both in reading and speaking
  • Be receiving a hearing aid for the first time
  • Own and know how to operate a television and telephone
  • Have Internet service available in the home. No knowledge of computers is required to participate.
