This month’s physician spotlight focuses on Dr. Kimberly A. Bonar, FACOG, who’s been with Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates in Fairfield, Ohio, since 1995. Graduating cum laude from the Northeastern Ohio University’s College of Medicine after completing an accelerated six-year OBGYN program, she specializes in high-risk obstetrics and adolescent gynecology.

While training to become a surgeon, Dr. Bonar was first drawn to the OBGYN profession when she realized how much she enjoyed prenatal care and delivering babies. With a genuine interest in peoples’ lives, one of Dr. Bonar’s favorite aspects of her career is staying in touch with the same patients throughout their adolescence, first pregnancy, and as their families continue to grow. 

In addition to her work at the women’s health center, Dr. Bonar is also a proud member of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists and the Cincinnati OBGYN Society. She is the co-director of OBGYN Associates’ AIUM accreditation (American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine), which ensures the highest standards for obstetric and gynecological ultrasounds.

Dr. Bonar loves her job and has a personal investment in promoting healthy lifestyles, especially when it comes to regular exercise. In high school, she played five different sports, and she still enjoys skiing, paddle boarding, and kayaking. Her four teenage daughters swim competitively and have long been able to outrace her—a humbling experience, Dr. Bonar admits.

Dr. Bonar spends her free time hanging out with her daughters and husband and walking her two beloved dogs. She is also an avid fiction reader and loves experimenting in the kitchen with new, palate-expanding recipes.
