Among the many schools and forms of expressive dance, very few captivate young children as much as theatrical dance. Theater dancers utilize dramatic choreography to relay tales and themes through stunningly evocative choreography. One of the New York’s finest theater dancers, Jim May, will draw upon his 45 years of knowledge in dance and theater, as well as his expertise as an artistic director, to instruct students in Moving Visions Dance’s theater dance classes.
Theater Dance Classes with Jim May

Starting November 5th, Moving Visions Dance offers theater dance classes in Tribeca for young students with a passion for artistic exploration and expression through dance. This class incorporates demanding technique warm up and works to improve each student’s placement, breath and speech within the context of stage dance. Jim May’s choreography will challenge students to move without reliance upon mirrors, teaching important skills in spatial awareness and control.
As the artistic director of the Sokolow Theatre Dance Ensemble, Jim May has worked to create a progressive new style of Theater and Dance, encouraging new dancers and choreographers to push beyond the boundaries of dance to express the deepest sentiments of human emotion and expression.
