Since 1996, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre has been splitting the sides of New Yorkers with a variety of renowned comedy acts. The comedy club hosts a diverse mix of entertainment, such as sketch shows, improv troupes, open mic nights, and classes to help you hone your comedic edge. While watching some of the most talented comedians in New York City deliver side splitting laughs from their own scripts is a guaranteed enjoyable experience, being on the stage and performing a sketch you wrote offers an unparalleled feeling of accomplishment.
At midnight on Friday, February 28th, the comedy club will present its Liquid Courage show, in which anyone can submit and perform his or her very own sketch comedy for no cost at all. Sign-up begins at 10:30 p.m. and ends promptly at 11:30 p.m. to allow enough time for a running order to be established prior to the start of the show at 12:00 a.m.
In order to submit a sketch for Liquid Courage, adhere to these rules:
- Fill out a form and submit it back to the theater’s box office. Be sure to attach your sketch to the form after you fill it out. Only one sketch comedy routine may be submitted for each form.
- Keep your sketch between three to five minutes, which is typically between three and five pages. Any sketch routine that exceeds five minutes will not be accepted.
- You supply your own performers, so be sure to cast your sketch prior to submission.
If you’ve written a hilarious sketch comedy routine that you can’t wait to share with the world, Liquid Courage is the perfect spot to do just that. For more information on this comedic event, as well as professional improv and sketch comedy shows, visit the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre online.
