If you’re looking for something fun and inexpensive to do on a weekend in Manhattan, UCB Theatre provides a variety of hysterically entertaining improv and sketch comedy shows at their West 27th Street location. Founded in 1996 by comedy heavy hitters Amy Poehler, Matt Walsh, Ian Roberts, and Matt Besser, UCB Theatre has received accolades from both AOL and Rolling Stone magazine. The comedy club has also launched famous comedians who have performed on and written for programs such as Saturday Night Live, The Office, 30 Rock, and several late night talk shows.
Every Friday night at 10:30 p.m., you can enjoy a night with some of the best improvisers in the country at The Law Firm: Law and Disorder. During this show, the comedy troupe known as The Law Firm interrogates a member of the audience about his or her life and turns the testimony into a fully improvised show. Anything you say while being interrogated can and will be used against you, so be sure to come prepared to laugh at your own expense if you get picked.
Members of The Law Firm include James Dwyer, Matt Fisher, Sue Galloway, and Conner O’Malley. The line-up is subject to change, but all members of the group are hilariously talented, as they have written for and starred in shows such as Broad City, Best Week Ever, Kroll Show, and Adult Swim @ Midnight. Tickets cost only $10. For a guaranteed spot, visit UCB Theatre online in order to make a reservation.
