From Friday, June 27th until Sunday, June 29th, UCB Theatre is hosting the 16thAnnual Del Close Marathon. Del Close influenced comedians such as Bill Murray, Tina Fey, and Chris Farley during his 30-plus years as an improv coach in Chicago. Del passed away in 1999, and the UCB Theatre has hosted the marathon ever since in honor of the legendary mentor.
During the marathon, improv comedy groups from all over the country, as well as the world, will come to New York City to perform more than 420 shows, ranging from traditional improv performances to completely unpredictable late-night shows, including What I Did For Love, The Law Firm, Grandma’s Ashes, and many more. The performances will take place at a variety of comedy theaters throughout New York City, including: the UCB Theater in Chelsea and UCB East on 3rd Street, NY Theatre Workshop on East 4th Street, the SVA Theatre on West 23rd Street, the FIT Haft Auditorium on West 27th Street, and other locations.
Passes for the marathon cost $30 and provide access to all shows based on seat availability. They will be available before and during the marathon at the UCB Theatre and other stages. You can also purchase passes for guaranteed admission to prime time shows for $20 at SVA and FIT.
