FitWAR Fitness & Rehabilitation Center: How to Ease The Soreness of Working Out, Manhattan, New York

You have probably heard the expression “no pain, no gain” many times before when it comes to exercising. The idea being the harder you push yourself, the better your results will be. While this is undoubtedly true, the idea that you will then spend the following day sore makes this notion less appealing. Who wants to struggle getting out of bed the morning after an intense workout?

The personal trainers at fitness and rehabilitation center FitWAR will tell you that unfortunately, there are going to be a few sore muscles if you’re working out as hard as you should. However, there are a few tips you can follow if you want to minimize this pain.

  • Tip 1: Anticipate being sore. Don’t fill your head with the idea that you will have the body you want in a day’s time. Start off your exercise at a steady pace and don’t push yourself too hard, too fast. The more you ease into a workout routine, the better you’ll anticipate soreness.
  • Tip 2: Embrace the pain. Feel good about being sore, because this means you have worked out hard. It’s only temporary and it’s a sure sign that you’re moving in the right direction. Once you pass the point of pain you will be better off than you were before.
  • Tip 3: Eat healthy. Eating right means you will be less sore after a workout. Just because you are burning calories doesn’t mean you can eat as much junk food as you like. Junk food is not the proper fuel your muscles need.
  • Tip 4: Stretching is important. Stretching both before and after your workout will speed up your recovery time and prevent you from hurting your body. Stretching will also help circulate your blood better.
  • Tip 5: Put some ice on it. Putting ice on your sore muscles will help to circulate the blood around. It’s a perfect recovery aid for many sports related injuries as well.
  • Tip 6: Exercise. When you’re sore you won’t feel like exercising, but it’s important to keep your body moving. Don’t push yourself too hard, but be sure to engage in recovery exercises.

Remember soreness is just a part of the package if you want to improve the look of your body. For more helpful exercise tips and post-workout advice, consult with the personal trainers at NYC fitness and rehabilitation center FitWAR.
