Throughout the month of April, The Porterhouse at Fraunces Tavern will host the 2014 Stout & Whiskey Fest, featuring 18 porters and black lagers, and more than 100 types of whiskey. Regardless of your beverage of choice, you’ll find a glass to enjoy! During the festival you’ll have the opportunity to swill down featured products from The Porterhouse Brewing Company in Ireland, such as the Plain Porter, Oysters Stout, and Wrasslers 4X Stout. There are also various featured bottles, such as Sam Adams Thirteenth Hour Oak-Aged Stout, New Holland Poet Oatmeal Stout, and Rogue Chocolate Stout.
There are numerous stout and whiskey pairings to choose from. One option that will certainly impress is the pairing of Sixpoint Imperial Otis Oatmeal Stout, which is aged for four months in Willett Bourbon Barrels, with the Willett Distillery Pot Still Reserve. The oatmeal stout’s full roast malt flavor with hints of coconut and vanilla nicely complements the citrus and honey flavors of the Willett reserve, making for a sweet, refreshing mix.
While you’re at the NYC craft beer bar, try the "Beer of the Week." This week the featured beer is Session Black, a dark beer that doesn’t drink like a meal. This nine-time gold medal winner features a subtle hint of roasted chocolate flavor. Even if you don’t consider yourself a dark beer fan, this selection will surely satisfy.
In addition to this festival, The Porterhouse at Fraunces Tavern also features daily drink specials and happy hour Monday through Friday. Come by the Irish pub any time this month to sample some of the best whiskey and stout beer, all beneath one roof. Visit NYC's best bar online for further information and upcoming events!
