Whether you own a classic car or just love the history of automobiles and auto shows, becoming part of a classic car club is a fun hobby. It’s also a great way to meet like-minded people and fully enjoy classic and antique car shows. The Charlotte AutoFair and its governing body, the American Antique Car Club (AACA), Hornet’s Nest Region, want those with an interest in antique and classic cars to know that no matter your situation, joining a classic car club can be a fun way to spend your time.

If joining a classic car club is something you’ve considered, the first step is to fill out an application form. Most car clubs charge an annual membership fee, and the AACA is no different. This fee gives the member voting privileges, a subscription to the AACA bi-monthly magazine, gives eligibility to exhibit cars and compete for awards, and also free access to the AACA museum. The Hornet’s Nest Region’s Charlotte AutoFair is one of the finest auto shows on the East Coast and is just one opportunity open to AACA members. With over 400 chapters nationwide, you’re sure to find a wonderful event nearby.

Once you fill out an application and pay fees, the next step to truly being a part of a car club is to go to auto shows and other events. Meet with the large group of enthusiastic, like-minded people who all want to talk classic cars with you. The range of classic cars and antiques you will see will astound you. As you socialize with these other enthusiasts, you will delve deeper into the world of antique car shows.

Classic Car ShowThe final step in becoming a classic car club member is to have a classic automobile to exhibit at auto shows and car exhibits. While anyone with enthusiasm for the history of classic cars is welcome as a member, you can enjoy the full breadth of membership by winning awards for your car and driving it to classic car shows around the country. Whether as a hobby or a way to make retirement or vacations a destination event, owning an AACA-sanctioned car is the final step in classic car membership.
