Driving lessons are the foundation of good driving habits. Sure-Drive Driver’s Training understands the importance of learning to drive the right way.  For more than 25 years, they’ve been teaching drivers of all ages in northern Kentucky the rules of the road; they know what habits drivers should keep and which to avoid.

Teens will learn good habits by taking driving lessons; unfortunately, they can also pick up a few bad habits by modeling questionable behaviors other adults engage in while they drive. Here are a few of the worst driving you should avoid, so your kids don’t pick up on them:

Inattention

Driving LessonsSpeeding, using a mobile phone, and failing to check the blind spots are the most glaring lapses that parents make when their kids are in the car. In fact, most states have distracted driver laws that limit the use of handheld cell phones while driving. However, if children see their parents using a cell phone while they drive, then they are far more likely to pick up this potentially dangerous habit.

Road Rage

Aggressive driving is another behavior that kids can absorb.  In fact, studies show that teens exposed to parents who speed, express road rage, or engage in verbal outbursts while behind the wheel are far more likely to display similar behavior than kids who are not exposed to those habits.

What parents do behind the wheel makes an impression. Many parents feel they’ve mastered the art of driving, but they often fail to convey what a major responsibility it is to drive a car. Sure-Drive Driver's Training understands the challenges that teen driving entails.
