Every year vinyl collectors and record enthusiasts flock to Academy Records for Record Store Day, a day where both classic and contemporary artists rerelease albums and share bonus material on vinyl. Taking place on Saturday, April 19th, this year's Record Store Day is the biggest yet, with myriad artists and record labels releasing singles, new vinyl pressings, and a number of backlogged material never before issued.
Academy Records is one of the few participating stores in New York City, and one of the only places where collectors can pick up exclusive material and releases. What makes this year’s event particularly unique is that many of the titles and released material will be location specific, in some cases limiting the release of material to just a few 1,000 items and only available in the United States.
Participating artists include: The Allman Brothers, Atmosphere, David Bowie, Built To Spill, Cage the Elephant, Coldplay, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Cure, Dinosaur Jr., The Doors, The Flaming Lips, Fleetwood Mac, Kings of Leon, Tame Impala, and Frank Zappa.
Alongside new vinyl releases, Academy Records has a wide inventory of classic and rare pressings, as well as CD’s, DVD’s, and stereo equipment. Get the latest releases and unique collectables, as well as a few hidden gems. Stop by April 19th at this West Village record store for the 2014 Record Store Day celebration!
