The Charlotte AutoFair is world-renowned for its incredible assortment of antique and collector cars. This bi-annual car show that takes place every spring and fall in Charlotte, NC, is a prime destination for car enthusiasts. To celebrate their upcoming auto show this September, Charlotte AutoFair is celebrating the 1968-1969 AMC AMX as the collector car of the month.

AMC AMX models assembled in 1968 and 1969 are coveted among car collectors. The models produced in these two years are the best looking and extremely well built. Over time, interest in these cars has grown as more and more car enthusiasts recognize how special and fast the AMC AMX can be. While you might pay a premium for the 390 cu. in. version, there are smaller 343 V-8 and 290 V-8 models that are priced lower and are just as fun to drive.

car showBest of all, the AMC AMX from 1968 and 1969 is relatively easy to restore. However, there is a limited line of reproduction parts available to fit these cars, although the market is certainly growing. Alternatively, many of the mechanical parts you’ll need to fix or replace are interchangeable with parts from General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler. For American Motors lovers, this is the muscle collector car to own, followed closely by the early 1970 models. Whether you’re looking to restore one or you’re interested in restoring an AMC AMX to resell, there is plenty of demand and interest in this tough, well-built American classic.

If you’re interested in collector cars or you’re looking for a fun family activity in the Charlotte, NC, area, check out the Charlotte AutoFair this fall at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
